Flemish designates in a broad sense the four dialects spoken in Flanders, the northern part of Belgium: Brabantian, East Flemish, West Flemish and Limburgish. From a strictly scientific point of view, Flemish refers only to the two dialects East Flemish and West Flemish spoken in Flanders. However, the term Flemish is currently used to refer to the Dutch language spoken in Belgium, a variety of Dutch with some phonological and lexical differences to the Dutch language spoken in the Netherlands. But there is no language called Flemish. The three official languages of Belgium are Dutch, French and German. With our team of experienced, bilingual
